    Show me your Aquascapes!!!!

Can't see all the caves and crevices in this picture, but there are a lot. All the fish have plenty of spots to dart in and out. My only regret is getting my engineer goby. I love the fish and he's growing extremely fast, but he is constantly re-landscaping - you can see the mound of sand on...

Mega-Powerful Nitrate and Phosphate Remover Replaces Skimmer, Refugium, Everything

I appreciate the feedback Reefkprz, but I'm well convinced that this is the way to go. My experience, although short in time, has been so much better than my first run at SW. Nonetheless, I also understand your point - patience is king with this hobby. SM - what do you supplement? With the...

    Pink Bug Picture

The pink bugs on the glass were too small to photograph so I took one out and put it on paper. I then used a toy we have called an eye clops that greatly magnifies anything and displays it on the TV. So this picture is from the tv. Unfortunately there is a glare, but I wanted to get it out...

Mega-Powerful Nitrate and Phosphate Remover Replaces Skimmer, Refugium, Everything

First, I want to say thank you Santa Monica and everyone who has posted and shared their experiences with scrubbers. I started my 75 reef 5 months ago (2nd venture w/ SW) and decided to start up with a scrubber and no skimmer due to this thread. All I have are powerheads, lights, scrubber and...

    Pink Bugs on glass

That really is a great pic. I haven't figured out how to post pics yet, but can't even get a clear pic of these tiny bugs anyway. Those are not what I have. The ones I have are rounded at the top and have a split tail - kind of shaped like a cartoon ghost, but with just two points at the...

    Pink Bugs on glass

Tiny pink bugs started sticking to my glass about a week ago. Are they some type of pod? I have not seen any on rock, fish or corals - just glass. Appreciate any help.

    Is my PH too low??

I test in the morning. Checked PH at night after lights went out once and still had the same reading. PH has been at 8.0 the last few days.

    Is my PH too low??

Thanks for the replies. I use a Salifert test and the results are in two forms: I have 10.4 KH value in dKH or 3.7 Alkalinity in meq/L. So I was assuming that's not bad, right? I could do more water changes - haven't done much because I thought the water levels were good. FYI - I use a turf...

    Is my PH too low??

My PH is consistently low. I know being stable is most important, but today it is down to 7.7 (usually at 7.8) What can I do to raise this? I have used buffer a few times, but not sure how often I should be using it or if there is something else I can be doing. Thanks for the help. My...

Mega-Powerful Nitrate and Phosphate Remover Replaces Skimmer, Refugium, Everything

Santa Monica - where can I get the 1/4" thick "honeycomb" plastic to use for the scrubber? Also, thanks for all the info - it's been fascinating reading and I can't wait to get mine going.

    Temperature Limits

I have a 75 reef w/ref. My temperature is varying from 74.5 to 76. Is that too low? I know I'm lucky to have low temperature issues, but I've heard varying opinions on what is acceptable.

Tight space in the Sump. Please help.

I'm starting a 75 reef with 30 gal ref, but only have 5" of space in the sump for a skimmer. After research, I've found 4 that will fit other than hang on or external. They are ETSS, Tunze, Deltec and ProClear. Can any of you please advise on which is best or if an external is better. Thanks...

    Old Live Rock

I'm just starting a new tank and have a lot of rock that used to be live rock. What can I do to prep/clean it to use it again? I will also buy some good live rock, but don't want to have to buy all new live rock. Thanks for the help.
