    Matching overflow and sump pump.

It made sense. I think I have answered my own question with some thinking and the knowledge of my sump tank having too much water. I will keep an eye on it for the next few hours. Will keep the thread updated. *Edit I had to cut the smaller of the overflow tubes shorter. By the time the water...

    Matching overflow and sump pump.

Then will that not eventually leave the sump to overflow? If the overflow is siphoning say, completely made up numbers, 5gph and the pump is pumping 4gph then that extra gallon will add up and overflow the tank. Edit* I am running 1/2" pvc until it switches to 7/16" vinyl. It maintains a siphon...

    Matching overflow and sump pump.

Hello all, I got all of my equipment yesterday and set up my 16g tank, so far 3 pounds of live rock and 20 pounds of Tahitian Black Sand with a small jet for a current. 10 Gallon sump with a 20 gallon Aqueon Power Filter(rated at 250 ghp), two 50w heaters and an AquaClear pump rated at 150 gph...

Does this setup look like it would work?

I found a DIY for a pvc overflow. So the picture is correct after all. Only one pump.

Does this setup look like it would work?

I will have to check that pvc way out them. Heck losing a pump saves me money. If I remove the HOB filter from the sump, would I place it in the main tank or just lose it all together?

Does this setup look like it would work?

Oh I forgot to draw the other pump in. Just imagine that another pump will be going from the 16 to the 10 haha.

Does this setup look like it would work?

I did not want to bump my old thread after my questions were answered with the help of everybody. I created a ghetto schematic in MS paint, does it look promising? *Keep in mind placement of the items will potentially be different but the general idea is there. Anything you would change? My...

Not sure which to do first.

Alright great! That just saved me 40 bucks. So be it that I have not purchased my actual sump tank yet, if when I get it and it is too small for compartments for different filter types which should I go with? I was thinking some sand and live rock some some nice biological filtration and maybe a...

Not sure which to do first.

Ok great thank you for clarifying that. Looks like by this weekend I will have my LR and sand ready to start its cycle . As far as anything else needed to start, the person that has been helping me at my lfs claims I should upgrade my filter to one that has a "waterfall" that moves a revolving...

Not sure which to do first.

Thank you both for the warm welcome As of now I can only afford a 16g, I also have a 10g freshwater I am working on. My LFS will in fact sell my their saltwater, only thing is right now they are having a sale. If I buy a tub of Sea Crystal salt ($80 value) I also get 40 dollars of in store...

Not sure which to do first.

Hello all, I plan on starting my 16g tank soon. I am planning on it being a live rock with fish set up. It is going to have a 5 or 6 gallon sump tank (I was told show tank size / 3 = sump tank size). Should I get all of my tanks and necessary pumps and hoses first, or go ahead and buy my sand...
