    Clown Question

I had the same issue with my tomato clowns. I actually found the male on the bottom last week dying from a particuallarly bad attack from the female. My salinity is a bit high(1.026) but other than that my chemicals are perfoect. I have plenty of flow and a 16 hour timer for my lights. So good...

    Anyone from Germantown, MD?

Sorry I live in VA, but here is a link to a bunch of LFS that may be near you. IF nothing else it should give you the closest one. Good luck. I have to go about 30 minutes to a store I am willing to buy from. A warning I used to work at an LFS...some of the worst conditions I have ever seen. I...

Problems with pair of clowns and o0ther fish...

I know I love and suggest a royal gramma. They are great to watch, and seem to have a personality of their own. It does burrow under live rock in the sand. I think one of my favorite things about it besides the briliant color is when anyfish comes near its den or threatens it the mouth opens. It...

    Algae on substrate

I would like to start by saying your mushrooms in your tank look great. But the main issue is that algae lives off the carbon dioxide emitions from anything liveing in your tank. It also lives off of the light in your tank. Since you replaced your old lightbulbs you have more light. So ince...

Keeping a viable pod population in a sump?

I do have a running sump, it is not a filter, I have my fluval 405 for that. I will soon be working on setting up my sump to propigate pods. I will probably put another pump to bring them into my tank. So best of luck with yours.

    Ideas for a new addition

that sounds great, I gotta check it out. My gramma does not generally scare away my emerald crab though. It just goes around back(the rock it is under has a crevasse that does to the front side). So my gramma has made a nice home. Front door, back door, even a small rock he swims under and...

    Ideas for a new addition

I will be getting my six line wrasse soon, so thanks for the info about it. I have a royal gramma. I love it, it burrows under the live rock and chills out when it is scared. But I love watching is stretch its surprisingly large mouth. The best part is when any fish tries to get into the whole...

    Ideas for a new addition

you could go for a colorfull six line wrasse, but it should grow to be about 3-4 inches so it may be a bit much with all the fish you already have. I have a royal gamma that I love, so definately check that out. but there are plenty of other small fish to look into.

    weird clownfish

agreed, mating dance. I had a pair or tomato clowns and the female got a bit too agressive. I found my poor little male tomato clown on the bottom of the tank yesterday with his entire tail fin eaten off. So by yesterday afternoon he went into shock and died...I hope you have better luck than I...

Silver bullet Goby, I want him out!

I have had some issues getting fish out before, my suggestion is that during feeding time when they come out, get a net and try to trap it into a corner then pull the net up, catching your menace. This can be rather complitated though and I am sure there are other better solutions.

Keeping a viable pod population in a sump?

I think you answere your own qestion, keep the female. She will be able to live off your pod's and you dont have to buy foren food for her. Making your decision easier is just how hard it would be for you to find another female. So, let em know hat you chose I would like to hear more. Good luck...

Help w/ 37 gallon aquarium please!

srfisher17, you have some great advice but I think he could look into some smaller crabs. and buga3 your very limited with a 37 gallon tank. Also if you switch your filters out in mid cycling it will restart the process. Because all cycling is is building up the backteria levels that your filter...

For the first time since I started a SW tank!

I am slightly new to the whole reef tank deal, but my tank is working on the seven month mark. What I do know is that it is recomended to do a 10-20% water change every month or two. My suggestion for how should do your water change is this; if you have a sump pull water from there, not your...
