i just started a picotope. 3 gal. It has new water, new live sand, but all mature covered in coraline rock. Just curious how how quickly it might cycle. I know normally its 4 to8 wks. Thought it might go quicker with the rock.

the first one was bought as a GSP but looks different to me the second is a softy that i just forgot to ask the name of the third is a mushroom that i got from saltwaterfish.com in the assorted category and wasn't what i was expecting, cool mushroom though. polyps are about 2 in. in dia.

I know green star polyps like heavy flow, but how much is too much? I have a power head aimed in their direction, I'm just worried it's to much. It's not enough to push the frag but strong enough to keep them polyps whipping. Kinda looks like a wind storm.

Is it frowned upon to have a glass/versa top on a reef tank. I,m thinking more in the sense of lights rather then evaporation. Thinking about starting a new tank and just curious. Is it more of an opinion thing? Thanks for any replies.

I've been keeping fish both fresh and salt for about 15 years and it seems like even today I still panic about anything out of the norm. Even if I know better. I suppose it's good though. Keeps you on your toes about your stuff.

my new fire shrimp is out in the open just chillin not moving much. normally that would be nice so i can see him. when i first put him in he was all over the place. normally i wouldn't be worried but i know they love the rocks. is he act suspicious or am i being paranoid?
