    Brown Hair Algae

Those sound like good steps. I'm in the same battle. So far I bought new bulbs and cut back lighting by 50%. I also cut back feedings to every other day. I reach in and pull the nasty hair out by hand on the weekends. It helps for a while but keeps coming back. I've done several water...

Anyone ever use Kent phosphate sponge?

I feed them frozen brine and squid on the weekend and a few flakes on the weekdays. If this doesn't take care of the problem I will definitely invest in a ro unit. thanks, frank.

Anyone ever use Kent phosphate sponge?

Phosphates have shot through the roof. Nitrates at about 25-30(never been able to keep at zero). Ammonia and nitrites at zero. I've had caulepra before in my display but when it started going asexual six months ago I removed it all. I don't have room for a refuge in my small apt. so that...

Anyone ever use Kent phosphate sponge?

Thanks for the respones. I've done the water changes and cut back feeding. I just ordered new lights a month ago and cut back on the lighting period. I use distilled water which I've never had problems with before. None of this has helped my hair algae problem. I thought if I cut down on the...

Anyone ever use Kent phosphate sponge?

I just bought this product online and was wondering if anyone had success using it. My tank had a faulty protein skimmer and more half of the water flooded onto my carpet. After replacing the water many clams died and polluted my water. I've done several water changes but still had a hair...

    Sucks to be me

Happened to me last week on an overflow. It was way worse for my carpet. About 15 gallons spilled over onto it.. Had the fan on for 2 days non-stop. Then I steam vaccumed it twice over. That did the trick.

    Urchin in my reef?

I've had two for about a year now in my small reef tank. They were hitchers and I was told to take them out and kill them. I value life in my small tank environment and decided to keep them. They occasionaly knocked over a coral when it wasn't placed correctly but other then that there have...

just how safe is a spider decorator?

I've had one for three months. He cut some polyps and placed them on his back the day he was introduced. Since then he hasn't touched anything. I spot feed him, my two cleaners and two starfish once a week. Decorator has been one of my favorites since I bought him. Just keep it well fed and...

    swf.com- flame angel

It's been over 3 months since I've had mine and it is doing great. It's little territorial and had caused the demise of my favorite brain coral by picking at it. Otherwise I'm very happy with my purchase.

could i put this in my 29?

Don't know much about the bi-colored dwarf but I believe a coral beauty or flame angel would be fine with 2-3 other small fish. I've had a flame angel with a sebae clown, royal gramma and blue damsel for about 3 months with no problems. These guys are considered pretty aggressive but so far...

UV sterilizer on a reef set-up. Yes or No.

Not here. I've always heard they are only beneficial for fish only tanks.

    OT: war in Iraq

Sadam has supported terrorism and it is a fact. He sends thousands of dollars to the families of Suicide bombers. Just today Blix uncovered a missle loaded with a biological substance that has yet to be identified. He's admitted to having anthrax and several other biological and chemical...

Delivery comming, I'm not gonna be home...

Same thing happened here. Unfortunately only half of the shipment survived and more are likely to die. My wife tried to acclimate them but she didn't read the instructions carefully. Most likely she was too busy on the phone and watching the lifetime channel:mad: .

    Help!! Missing Mandarin

I've used hagan add on filters that prevented any fish or inverts from getting caught in my powerheads. There might be attachments that the company which produces your powerheads has made to prevent this from happening again. As far as it releasing toxins into the tank it won't happen. You...

Bright Colored Coral That sways in the current

The hardiest one that comes to mind are green star polyps. Water current always has them swaying in the tank. I don't think they're very colorful but when guests come over they are immedietley attracted to them.

    Macro Algae Turning White

It is going asexual on you. When it begins to turn to clear and white it is on its way out and should be removed before releasing nutrients(nitrates) back into your system. I had to get rid of all of mine when it happened in my tank.

Please help! Snow delay! How long can fish survive?

10 minutes before I leave and still no fed ex. Weathers pretty bad so I'm not blaming them but I am pretty upset. I'm going to have my uncle sign for the shipment and float the bags in my tank but he won't be able to acclimate. Hopefully they'll survive. :(

Please help! Snow delay! How long can fish survive?

Unfortunately it's the free UBUILD IT from swfish.com contest so there definitely won't be a refund or doa policy. I'm just wondering which one will be less stressful. Putting them in right away before I head to work(If they even arrive) or waiting till tonight. Going in late or calling sick...
