    High Temp

Thanks for the response NM Reef! I have had the temp as high as 89! We dive alot in the Caribbean in waters 85+ and corals and sponges thrive nicely. I know that is high for most hobbiest too, but there is life in the 80's! I just don't like getting in the high 80's. I'll try your suggestion. I...

    Worms?

Thanks again everyone for the responses. I think I'll take your advice TimO and hand feed once a day. We travel alot, but not that much that I need to auto feed everyday. It was mainly because I was told to feed twice a day, once in morning, once at night. Mornings are real rushed around this...

    Worms?

Thanks for the info TimO! You are right with overfeeding being the main issue. I have an auto feeder that goes off twice a day. I guess I need to still tweek the amount of food it is dropping. Once that has been adjusted correctly, maybe that and the water changes will help get the trates back...

Everything else is in good shape, just the trates are high. Any suggestions on lowering the trates other than the water changes? I read where plants...

    type of anenomie??

Is there someone out there that could tell me what these little guys are? I have searched the BB, and from some of the photos I have seen, could be "zoo polyps"? They have really taken over the rock that they are on, as well as spread through-out the tank. I don't want to harm them if they are...

    aptasia

Can anyone tell me if the attatched photo is aptasia? I have looked at several pictures from this BB of aptasia, and most of what I see doesn't look the same as what I have. I started out with only one of these little guys, and in the past year and a half, have gone to eight of them. They seem...

    clam lighting

Thanks for the replies! I read they needed alot of light, but wasn't sure if with the size of my tank, that 192 would be okay. I guess next to getting Halides, I'll pass on the clam. Are there any soft (colorful) corals that would be "happy" under this wattage?

    clam lighting

Just wondering... am upgrading my lighting to 192w, 10k daylight(96w),7100k actinic(96w). I have a 46 gal bow-front (36X18X20). Would this be enough lighting to support clam life? Also, any suggestions as to colorfull corals that would live happily within this lighting. Any help would be much...

    lighting suggestions please!

No hood, but probably could do the DIY with some type of hood design. Like the idea of the 2 36" and the 24" in front. Have to draw something up. Thanks!!

    lighting suggestions please!

Thanks for the response! Also thanks for the "heads-up" on JBJ. I was only considering them because of the new "flip top" design. would have made it easier for tank access.

    Formosa JBJ DX-JG3 lighting

I'm looking to upgrade my current lighting of two 55w 50/50's to the JBJ DX-JG3 192w "flip-top" lighting system. This consists of 1 96w 10,000k daylight and 1 96w 7100k blue. Has anyone had any experience with JBJ lighting? I'm looking at their system mainly because of the new "flip-top"...

    Aging Water

Are there any concerns when aging water, to use powerheads rather than airstones for circulation. I have plan to be aging water in 3, 5gal containers with heaters and airstones. I thought that I had read somewhere on this forum that it is not recomended to use airstones, but can't seem to locate...
