the problem probably is not the heat, i have 216w of ps's sitting on my glass top for several months now. problem maybe they were to short and the weight was on the glass instead of the rim of the tank.

i run a dual 55w pc from oceanic as well as a customsealife 96w 50/50 and coraline is great and polyps from the middle of the tank up do great. my tank is a 75high so they dont do well low, waters to deep. go to the fish and invert tab and look under corals to see some polyps and 'shrooms.

papers that came with my kent nautilus state that only a few of the most powerful skimmers will skim phytotheres not included, but mine is off when i feed.

when i get concerned like this i just count the hermits that are moving around, another indication is my hermits are on anything that has died very quickly but they leave moltings alone.

best way to lower/control nitrates is water changes. a DSB and macro algea will also help with this.

i use one as well and am pleased with it, mine took some tweeking but the pump is of unknown size for a good price from LFS, i would recommend using the pumps they recommend.

you should be able to get the stuff at your LFS and do this yourself, just caulking.

a trick to help the tank from getting to cloudy is to put plastic on top of it before you refill the tank, then remove the plastic after the tank is full before placing anythingelse back. the water will still get a little cloudy but not near as bad.
