    Algea Eater

I believe that starfish will eat everything that is alive in your sand. I have an urchin that cruises around the tank constantly and leaves behind clean paths as he goes. i do not know if they eat the good critters but he rarely is found on the sand bed. He (the urchin) spends most of his time...

    2 pumps one return?

I have two pumps and two return lines. I would not recommend using two pumps and only one return line. Is there a reason you do not want two return lines?

    There are some good LFS.

Just for the record, I only responded once. Not numerous times. I really see that I hit a sensitive spot with him. It must have hit home. Look at how emotional his responses are. Yikes. Now, who wants to buy a car!

    Missing Domino Damsel

You have more fish in your 29 gallon tank then I do in my 180. I'm not joking or flamming you I am just trying to help. Even if things look good now it could crash tonight. The biolode is way too high. It doesn't matter what filtration you have for the tank its too high. You may want to...

    schooling question ??

I've had both blue and green chromis. The green schooled and swam together around the middle and the top of the tank. The blue separated and always played chase with each other throughout the live rock.

    There are some good LFS.

nmreefman: Spoken like a true used car salesman. Dude, I know more about business then you ever will. It is however, the ultimate responsibility of the purchaser to make sure it is a valid purchasing option for them. Perhaps you once heard of the phrase, "Buyer beware"? It came about because...

    There are some good LFS.

I read alot of posts about how bad their local LFS is and how they need to take more responsibility for the livestock they sell. BUNK! It is the fish keepers responsibility to know what they can and what they cannot put in their tanks. Nobody can blame the LFS for making a sale. That being...

    RIO replacement.

This may have nothing to do with the topic but here goes: I used to have a school of green chromis. They would swim together and when they got spooked they would shoot around the tank and look for cover. One time they were near my overflow and they got spooked. Abouot 12 of them darted right...

How about 5 convict tangs in a 180?

Thanks for your reply. By reading it, it seems as though my previous post may have put you on the defensive. I did not mean to do that. I was just having a conversation. Sorry if I came across the wrong way. I am a big believer in educating myself before doing anything. Hence the topic here...

    coral beauty reef safe?

Mine lived for years and it was peaceful to my mushroom population. It nibbled at algae and ate brine shrimp and even some flake foods.

    Troubles with Red Slime Remover

I have used it with terrifiying results. None of my fish died but I lost every single mushroom that I had in the tank. The bottle said it was reef safe and I dosed per the instructions. Total devastation of my mushroom popluation. I will NEVER use it again.

How about 5 convict tangs in a 180?

Lets be honest here. If I could get a good 5-6 years out of a fish I would take it. I have had some live for that long and even had one go over 14 years but on average I'd say that most folks are killing fish much faster than 5-6 years. My plan is to build another custom tank that will be...

    What fish to start with???

Ah the clownfish! You will not go wrong with one of these little fellas. Mine was also my first marine fish. It was a Seabae Clownfish and it lived for 14 years. Or was it twelve? Hmmm, I lost him only a few months ago, you'd think I would remember that. :( Thats not good. But the fish was...

How about 5 convict tangs in a 180?

5-6 years would be a good time frame as I would have a bigger tank by then and the 180 would be the "little" one. :D Lets discuss the ick worries here. I know that tangs are very suseptable to ick but if I quarantine them and keep the water in the main tank in pestine quality, where is the...

How about 5 convict tangs in a 180?

I'm still tossing around ideas as to what I should do with my 180 tank. Its been running for about 2 years and a long power outage killed many of my inhabitants. Now I have a very expensive generator backup, 5 cardinals, 1 chromis, 2 CBS, a cleaner shrimp and a very hardy Urchin. (I still...

    attraction to saltwater?

I started in freshwater tanks. To me, freshwater always seemed to turn out to be like a lake with brown fish and brown appearance to everything. I moved into African Chiclids (why can't I spell chiclid??? It looks wrong!) to get some color and that branched into saltwater. Saltwater is...
