Jacksonville FL, Great deal on a 300Gal

Well, most of the specifics are listed in the description there. The tank is not too heavry when totally empty. Myself and a buddy lifted it no problem, I would guess around 200lbs max. I can actually lift it alone, but it too big and awkward to move. But you would probably want to move it...

Jacksonville FL, Great deal on a 300Gal

As I said, I am not interested in parting it out. All or nothing. If I can't sell it (even though $1500 is a STEAL) I will just break it down and keep it in storage.

Jacksonville FL, Great deal on a 300Gal

Here's the deal. I haven't been giving my Tank enough attention, and I don't even have any fish, just a few snails and crabs. I am getting ready to move, and don't want to bring the tank with me, so someone is going to get a great deal, if they are willing to do some work. I am selling the...

    Wet/Dry bio-balls question...

I have been up for over a year without a water change. I have a Wet/Dry, LR, DSB and yes BIO-BALLS. All of my water readings are perfect. I stand behind Bio-Balls, they are great at their job, and there is NOTHING as of now that you can put in your aquarium that can do the job that they do as...

    Chill out

Save you money, put a couple of heaters in the tank or sump and keep your temp at 84 steady. That is fine.

    MH lighting upgrade, Too much?

Yes plum, same endcaps I have. Real pain in the ass. I finally got them working after about 3 hours. Might try using some sandpaper and sand the contacts, the salt ruins them over time.

    MH lighting upgrade, Too much?

Yes, I had the same prob last weekend. Those 3 piece end caps are a PITA. I had to remove each bulb and test it with endcaps 1&4 to verify that all the bulbs worked. Then I made sure each endcap was on properly, even though I had just messed with each of them. Finally I got it to work. I...

    Temperature settings for reef....

I understand what you guys are saying, and I am sure there is pleanty of light at 60ft + with clear water. But, someone would have to show me proof with a light meter that the sun is as bright at 60 ft+ as Metal Halide light is in VERY clear water at a depth of 12 inches.

    Vlamingi Tang, Expensive??

That tank looks great Plum, but I just can't see how it is 262 gallons. I am not saying you are lying, it just doesn't look that big to me. My tank is only 40 gallons bigger than yours and mine is 8 feet long 2 feet deep and 30" high.

    Temperature settings for reef....

GatorCSM, There is only 1 shop worth a crap in Jax and that is Atlantis Aquariums on atlantic. I have been to them all and most are diseased mutated fish that wreak of ICH. I have been VERY disappointed with the fish stores here other than Atlantis. It is like a showroom, with everything...

    Coralline Algae

I'm sure it's just grown too thick and heavy for a vertical plane. I'm sure it can only adhere to itself within reason. On rock it has a lot of texture to adhere to, glass is just a smooth vertical plane where gravity is pulling it off, as apposed to on a rock where gravity actually helps it...

    Coralline Algae

Yes, be very concerned. You should scrape all the coraline off that you can, and mail it to me for examination. You could be encountering "Excesivious Coralinious". I will put those scrapings in my tank since my tank has been diagnosed with "Non-propegatorius Coralinious" and this will solve...

    Temperature settings for reef....

So that I don't have to use a chiller, I keep my tank at 85 in the summer and 80 in the winter. Granted, I don't have corals yet, but fish are just as sensitive to temps as corals. I also make sure I have a lot of moving water through surface aggitation, overflows, and a wet/dry for the exact...
