My 55g reef at 6 months

damn, im jealous...ive got a 65 gallon tank at like 2 months without a single fish...i dont see how i can add that many fish in 4 months, but good job...your tank is very similar to how i planned mine. ive heard mixed things about flame angels, does yours eat corals?

    tank cover

dont use glass tops...goto home depot and get eggcrate lighting...you will get much more evaporation, but that is the only downside...the plus side is that there is much better gas exchange, dont have to worry about salt creep, and keeps the tank much cooler.

    Grrrrr! Microbubbles!

also as far as the overflows, why use 3? that just looks a lot more ugly in your display. overflows go for pretty cheap on ----, maybe look into getting 2 1000 gph overflows, this way in worst case scenario one fails, you still have one running which should keep your tank going. your pump does...

    Grrrrr! Microbubbles!

i have found the best way to eliminate microbubbles is filter padding(i believe thats what its called...what goes on top of the trickle filter, the white stuff). if its coming from your return pump wrap your return pumps prefilter and wrap it completely in it. it allows water to pass through...

    Slimey water in fuge

nah, return pump is in a pretty small area, just the right size for it. even my smallest powerhead puts a decent amount of water circulation in that area that it causes the bubbles to go all aruond.

i have a pretty basic fuge setup. water comes in on the right, goes through bubble baffles, then through the fuge, then to the return area. in the return area the water level is much lower than in the rest of the fuge/sump. in that return area the top of the water gets very slimey. what can i do...
