Denitrator Hooked up, anyone use one?

WOW! 262 gallons, I can see where it would be beneficial for you to have one. 26 gallons would be alot of water to haul for a 10% water change. I was thinking only for us little guys with small tanks, hehe never thought i'd call 72 gallons small. :D

Denitrator Hooked up, anyone use one?

My LFS suggested that I get a denitrator as well. I am sorry, but I have very limited info, as I dont have my tank set up or anything yet. I have been doing alot of research and reading on items that are really helpful, and those that may make keeping a reef easier, but not necessarily helpful...

    Trickle filter with bio-balls, or

I really appreciate everyone who posted on my other thread and helped me figure out what I want to get as far as tank size goes. I am going to get everything set up before I add any life to the tank, LS and LR included. My question now is, for someone starting out, which method would you go...

    Just another funny lfs store

Zack, I am just getting started in this hobby, but one of my LFS guys told me the same thing about DSB. He said that you should never use one. The way he had it set up he only had to do water changes at 50% once a year. He said that with a sand substrate, or any for that matter, irritates some...

    Setting up first tank

Jay, I am new to this hobby as well. I dont even have a FW tank to start with, so I am starting from the very beginning. What I can offer is this: read as much as you can about what your intended end point will be. Look at other tanks that are what you want yours to be. Do what they do. This is...

    Where to start.

I am definately going with a DSB as my substrate. I have read alot of posts on that subject, and it seems to be the way to go. The guy at the LFS told me that the jets that create the current in the water will stir up the sand. In turn it will fall back down on the corals and irritate them...

Thats the same thought that I had, the fact that their opinion was driven by a bottom line. I am still shopping around for the tank. The plan I have right now, and correct me if I am wrong, is to get all tank components first. Assemble the entire set-up and understand how everything works and...

OK, I did some looking around today. LFS was not much help, however there are 2 stores about 35 minutes away that were!:D One guy was very heplful, but he was already trying to sell me the whole schmeer(sp?). Tank, skimmer, pumps, trickle filter, denitrifier, orp sensor. He just kept on and on...

Angela, If the 90 gal is still available I would definately be interested in it. I dont know where Nashville is, but I am sure I could find it. I am in Americus. About 2.5 hours south of Atlanta. If you could get the info on that tank, I would appreciate it.

:) Thanks! I am going to check th LFS tomorrow about ordering a tank. Any thoughts, pro or con, on acrylic tanks? They seem to be higher priced than glass, but are they better in any way?

Not sure about my LFS, its kinda small. Anybody have any recommendations, online or otherwise, about where to look for a tank?

    Where to start.

Rob, is there any way to check whether or not it has been treated with copper? If the current owner does not know, then this tank may not be a good investment. If it has been treated, is there any way to clean it?

Thanks for the quick reply! I am not sure what all comes with the tanks either. I still have to go look at it, but or the tank, stand, hood, lights, filter, and around a dozen fish they are asking $150. I dont know if anything other than the tank is usable for a reef, but I figured that it was a...

    Where to start.

How about a few questions from a complete newbie?!:D Well, first an introduction. My name is Bryan and I live in south Georgia. I enjoy golf, cars, and saltwater fish. I have had a freshwater tank before, but never a saltwater tank, much-less a reef. But I do love to sit and watch most reef...
