    Pic of clown and naso

Got a decent pic of my naso tonight and thought I'd share. The lines you see aren't on the naso but are scratches in the tank glass: And here is a closeup pic of my clown enjoying his home:

    My First Tank..!!!

Yes, it would be easy to move from FO to FOWLR and you could start with a wet/dry now and change to live rock later w/o any problems. It sounds like you are leaning towards the wet/dry so why not do both. Get about 30lbs of live rock and get the wet/dry. As someone else pointed out the live...

    Kenya trees in GA!

I hope you don't mind the question. I've got a bunch of starts from kenya's. They break off and settle other places in the tank. How do I get them off the rock/glass/etc so I can give them away or sell them? As you can tell I've never propogated a coral. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Lets see those IN-wall tanks!

Thanks for the suggestion Hagfish. I had someone on another site suggest the same thing and I think I'm going to do that just to be safe. I'm not real good with projects like this but using the 2x6's hung in joist hangers, like a deck, I was thinking it would provide support evenly. Adding...

    Lets see those IN-wall tanks!

Here is my 125. I finished it in March or April of this year. I have a 55g as a sump/refugium. I really enjoy having this in the wall. It is in our basement family room and I find myself spending more time down here so I can watch the fish. Here are a few pictures during the construction and...

    help building a big stand

I used 2x4's to hang the lights. That is what you the arrows are pointing at. I have VHO's now and two sets of 2x4's for them. The stand top is underlayment for floors. I had heard the same about mdf so I didn't use that. This stuff seems stronger than plywood although I've also heard...

    help building a big stand

RobChuck - thanks for the suggestion on the cripples. I may try that. The stand was designed like a deck so I thought it would support the tank but you idea of the cripples would be that much extra. trompet3 - here are some additional pictures. What you pointed out in the front is the one...

    Fish for my 125

I've got a couple of other fish I wanted to get feedback on. One is the blue stripe butterfly and the other is the Bluechin Trigger. In the Marine Fishes book both are listed as being reef safe. Anyone had either of these?

    Fish for my 125

rimabry - I'm not going to have 4 tangs and 3 angels. The list is just fish I'm interested in and I was asking for advice about which one's would do well in a reef, which one's get along together, etc.

    Fish for my 125

Thanks for the thoughts. Nobody selected the hippo or the gold rim tang. Is that because they are difficult to keep, not reef safe, or just not your favorite? Anybody else want to add comments?

    Fish for my 125

I'm looking for comments from the below list of fish I would like to put in my 125. It is currently FOWLR but eventually it will be a reef. I'm trying to plan ahead with the fish so I don't have to remove any later. I'd also like to know about order of introduction into the tank if anyone...

    VHO question

I've got an ARO electronic VHO ballast that will run up to 4 bulbs. I think generally people use 4 4' bulbs on these. I've got a 6' tank. Is there any reason I can't use 4 3' bulbs? I was thinking of running them end to end. The ballast will handle up to 440 watts and 16 ft of bulbs. This...

    Suggestion for connection to sump

Thanks for the suggestions. At some point I may decide to hard plumb out of necessity but I'd like to try it first with the tubing. The sump has two shelves for filtration. If I hard plumb I won't be able to open the lid to get to them. After the tank is up and running for a while maybe I...

    Suggestion for connection to sump

I'm on the last steps of connecting my inwall 125 to a 55 sump/refugium. The 125 is drilled in each corner. Instead of pvc I'm trying to use clear tube. I bought the tube from a local hardware store. It seems to be too heavy. It is pulling the lid off the sump. I don't know if tubing I...
