    Silicon...got it... I think that I'll just try filling it up a little at a time though with tapwater. I don't want to have 42 gallons start to leak and then i have to run to home depot! lol

    Tank Setup... Start --> Finish

    I'm going to be checking the tank for leaks. How should I go about this? What if I find some leaks? I planned on filling it a *little* at a time and just watch it. It's a glass aquarium, so if I do find some leaks, what should I use to fix them?

    Here I just took off the masking... Also, since I didn't paint the inside of it, it's deceiving on what it actually looks like. Look at that friggin' shine too!!! :D

    Tank Setup... Start --> Finish

    Well, I didn't like the beat up finish and the oak color...I have a ton of black furniture in my apartment...I should coordinate that way (plus, I just like the look of black contrasting all of the colors of a reef). So, I painted it black. It's possible that I'll have to touch it up here and...

    Tank Setup... Start --> Finish

    Here is the Tank. It's a hex obviously, but this presents a good challenge on water circulation. Dimensions -- Each Panel is 12" X 24"... What's the volume on this?

    Tank Setup... Start --> Finish

    I wanted this thread to be helpful to everyone. I'm not the only one that has done this (maybe?), and I'd like to put my setup of my tank out there to the whole board, that way everyone can see it from start to finish. This will probably be a relatively long post because I'll be asking...

    Sand Bed Depth for a Hex

    I know I know, rule of thumb for a live sand bed is 1-1.5lbs of sand per gallon...I plan on getting about 45lbs for a 40gal hex. Is that going to make my sandbed too deep? Each side of the hex is about 8"-12" (not sure) and is about 30" tall... Is it too much? TIA
