I have the same rust colored algea. Mines been set up for about two weeks. From what I hear this is normal and a good sign that the tank is cycling properly. Different algea forms come and go all through the cycling period. please correct me if I am wrong.

Do you think one or two snails would hurt at this time?

Hey, I just added live rock into my new 55 gal. I was wondering if I should have the skimmer running while the tank is cycling. I have two powerheads running and a hang-on filter. The lr is not fully cured but has excelent coralline.

I was wondering if someone could tell me a good lighting system for a 55 gallon. I plan to put some anemones in it later and was wondering want the proper watts would be. Right now I have 2 18 inch 15 watt flouresents in. Is this enough light for it or should I upgrade? If so, to what? Thanx

I just bought a 55 gal. tank and I was wondering how many pounds of sand should i put into it. Also is it ok to mix reg. sand with live sand? Will the reg. sand eventually become living? I'm new to this so please bear with me. Thanx for any input. krow
