    Time between coral additions

What other food should I feed my fish. The brine shrimp meal is enriched with spirulina.

    Time between coral additions

I only plan to have mushrooms, polyps and leathers in my tank. Right now, other than the coral, I only have 2 ocellaris clowns and a cleaner shrimp. I alternate adding calcium mixed with top off water and alkalinity buffer every 2-3 days. Everyday, I add a reef solution (containing several...

    Time between coral additions

Two weeks ago I added a sun polyp and a bright green mushromm to my tank. Both appear to be doing well. Far better than the finger leather I added in early December. It is living but it isn't nearly the size it was in the lfs show tank. I found a pink button polyp and an aqua cultured...

    Finger Leather problem

About a week and a half ago, I added a finger leather to my tank. This is my second coral. For some reason it doesn't remain extended very much. Usually early in the morning it is extended (although not like it was in the showtank of the lfs) but only stays that way for about 10-15 minutes...

    Good 2nd coral

Thanks for the responses. I'll probably get the ricordea and the open brain. :)

    Good 2nd coral

Hi, I currently only have 1 leather polyp, 2 clowns, 1 cleaner shrimp and a number of hermits and snails. I would like to add another coral next week. Possibly ricordea or colt coral. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good hardy species? Could I get away with adding 2 at once?

    What's wrong with my clown?

They have been together since late July. As far as size, there isn't a huge difference in size but you can see the difference. Thanks.

    What's wrong with my clown?

Yes, my clowns are a mated pair. Thanks for the response.

    What's wrong with my clown?

When the seizures occur the male clown is usually around. I was wondering if it was a defense mechanism. The male doesn't have the seizures at all. Currently, my tank has the following: LR & LS 1 cleaner shrimp 2 clowns 1 leather poly I noticed this behavior a week after adding the polyp...

    What's wrong with my clown?

I have an ocellarus clown that appears to be having quick seizures lately. This is the larger of the pair, so I think it's the female. This behavior only lasts for a couple of seconds but it's creepy. What do you all think is wrong?

    White lines on my glass

That looks exactly what is on my glass. Thanks.

    White lines on my glass

Yes, I added cortez cerith snails to my tank last Friday. So far, nothing is touching them. Do margarita snails lay eggs too? I added them along with the cerith's. BTW, those cerith snails really do a good job cleaning my glass and sandbed. I'm impressed. They put my astreas to shame!

    White lines on my glass

When I came home from work today, I noticed these thin, white chainlooking lines on my glass in three spots. I thought it was something stuck to the glass but after a while, the ends of these "chains" began to wave freely in the water, although still attached to the main "chain". I saw this...

    Snail blues

Okay, today 2 other snails reappeared. :) One peaked out of its shell for a while but never moved from that spot. When a pesty little hermit crab came near, he went in his shell and hasn't come out since. I still think that the stationary snail under the LR is dead. I bought 7 margarita...

tank cycling - can you tell ?

I cycled my tank with pre-cured live rock only and got NH3 readings off the chart. During my nitrite spike, the tank got as high as 5 ppm and lasted for about 4 days at that level. So, believe me, there is definitely enough die off to cycle the tank. BTW, the pre-cured live rock appeared to...

    Snail blues

I don't know what bristle worms look like but there are about 3 little half-inch rod looking things on the sand around the shell.

    Snail blues

Yes. This is definitely the case with mine. In the beginning, my snails would fall off of the glass easily and remain upside down until I flipped them over. A few times the blue legged hermits would really start bothering them when like this. Maybe they were seriously injured. How can you...

    Snail blues

When I added the snails and hermits, I also added about 15 empty shells. I feed the tank brine shrimp once per day (evening) and 3-5 tiny pellets in the morning. Other tank mates are 2 ocellaris clowns and 1 cleaner shrimp.

    Snail blues

I have a few astrea snails in my tank that I'm really concerned about. Two haven't moved from the same spot in a few days. I picked one of the up and it is deep in it's shell. Could it be dead?:( . The other is under a piece of live rock and is extremely difficult to get to. It's been there...

    "Best" test kits?

Salifert. I'm a chemist by profession and really trust these kits. I also have red sea kits for NH3 and NO2. They are good for high readings but are not very accurate for low. I also have a Hagen from my LFS for my pH readings--I HATE IT!!
