1.014 salinity low enough to treat for Ich?

I've been treating Ich with hyposalinity. I've had the salinty at 1.009 for 7 days. My LFS recommended that after 7 days of 1.009, I raise the salinty to 1.014 for the remaining treatment period. LFS said 1.014 is low enough to kill ich but easier on fish.
Is there any truth to this?

You need to keep it at 1.009 or an SG of 14 for the full time...6 - 8 weeks.
Any fluctuations in salinity will just require that the treatment be restarted.
