1 Cup of Rice in a Marine Tank

My nephew dumped about 1 cup of uncooked white rice into my 55 gallon reef tank. It will be about 24 hours before I can siphon it out. Anyone have any input on how detrimental this will be to the tank?
Thanks

not sure how bad it will be but you have seen rice water ahen cooking lots of free floating organics (the water turns white), fortunatly rice mostly absorbs water so once you siphon it out most of it will be gone, your skimmer should take care of the residue, just be prepared for an ammonia/nitrate spike due to the influx of excess organics, watch your water closely (I'm sure that goes without saying)
hopefully none of your fish injest the rice before it swells it could cause rather serious gastrointestinal problems, like ruptures internally.

Well, on the positive side on your way home stop at the local oriental food store and pick up some nori sheets.
When you get home, no need for any cooking, got rice, got fish, got nori, got sushi!

Only thing it reminds me of is the fact that in New Orleans they put rice in most of the salt shakers and salt containers and salt vats and salt drums and, well they do it to keep excess moisture out since New Orleans is below sea level.
