does anyone have an example of 10,000, 14000, 20000k MH's in action. Id like to see the same tank with each light...i'm sure someone has done it.
i'm going to get a pair as soon as i move my tank. and i already have 4pc's 2ab/2 10000 ...i dont want it to be too blue(i know corals love it, but i'm the one buying em) so im probably gonna stay away from 20,000's but i'd still like to see the 10,000's and 14,000's side by side.
anyone?

As someone that has just changed bulbs, I can tell you go with a 14k bulb. You will not be sorry. I had xm 10k's on my 75. I switched to hamilton 14k's and wow what a diff. I too was worried about too much blue. I will try to round up some before and after pics.

the K reading is relative to what you want to happen in your tank. Example
is based on a 250w MH bulb (bulb manufactures is a totally different another post)
It' really based on what you want
For growth on a growout frag tank use a 6500k bulb crappy yellow color, but the corals love it, mimics natural high noon wavelength
.
Good looing tank and all around nice bulb use a 10k, coral colors may be so-so also depends on if you use actincs.
.
Want the corals to colorup and look awesome, the use a 20k, not near as much growth as a 6.5k but looks so much nicer.

it's relative to "what you want" yes...but i "WANT" to see is color's...i couldent give 2 $hits if my tank "grows" right now or if it remaines the same, fact of the mater is that i asked "i'd like to compare," not what it does for my corals... so can anyone help me?

well im in the same boat. i have 14k MH 250s x 2.
my corals are very healthy, BUT they colors suck.. they are dull. I would really want them to BRIGHTEN up a bit..
i have 2 anemones that have total color loss, but very healthy.. couple hardies who lost color too..
should I try to switch it to 20ks?
If i switched from 14k to 20k, would it impact the corals and make them die?
plz advise..

10k supposed to give you good growth but not alot of color.
14k I thought was supposed to give decent growth and good color. 20k I would say slow growth but good color.
I think thats how it goes.
