Looks good but its not a CPR type overflow and that's a good thing. CPR's don't use U-tubes, plus their lousy overflows.
Your not going to get much flow through those holes. I'd try and make em more like teeth.
BTW, Good job!
Is the acrylic glued together with silicone? If so you're going to need to start over, the silicone won't stick to the acrylic for long. and you know what that means,,,, a wet floor.

i didnt know that would work
is that an actual U-Tube? it just looks like a piece of silicone tubing that is stretched over?
how are you going to attach the two sides together?

Not trying to be a jerk here but I doubt if that will hold. I just dont want to see you have a problem down the road. Hot glue is not very strong nor does that stick to acrylic well. If it fails and I think eventually it will, you will have a mess on your hands, let alone that you will no longer have a running filter which in return could burn up your return pump from lack of lubrication (water).I have made many overflows of this design out of the collection cups that pet stores use. If you are interested I could see if I can get some pics to you for reference.

may you please? ive been thinking of doing this.
im in kansas city our local ***** and stuff dont have alot of those collection cup stuff... the hot glue is pretty strong.. have you ever used hot glue?
I make mine from collection boxes that you can buy from LFS. You will need 2 of them. Drill or cut your holes for the skimmng in one of the boxes as you see done on the one in his pics, this will be your inside box. Take the other box and and trace to the bottom of the box to a piece of 1/8" acrylic. This is to strengthen the box.Glue the acrylic to the bottom of the box I use PVC glue HOT GLUE WILL NOT HOLD UP IN THE LONG RUN!, now drill it for your bulk head fitting. I make mine out of PVC fittings and use o-rings for the seal you only need 1 o-ring but it needs to be on the inside of the box. On the INSIDE box you need to cut of the lip that is acrsos from the box so it can sit on top of the outside box. When you fit them together you will see what needs to be cut. You leave the lip on the outside box so if there is a failure in you glue joint the outside box will not fall of and the inside box will fll into the tank ( i have built at least a dozen of these without one failure). Now glue them together. drop in your U-Tube and your good to go. I will try to get you a diagram in the next day or two. But it gives you an idea how to do this.
