10 gallon cycling with invertebrates

Ever since the LFS sold me a bubble anemone and a brittle star for my cycling 10 gallon I've been doing everything I can to keep the levels stable, and so far I've been pretty successful.
I put in an extra powerhead with a filter canister full of SeaChem DeNitrate, along with ammonia filter pads, and have used AmQuel twice in the water to assist. I've also added a second dose of cycle. I just changed 2 gallons of the water and I used RO/DI water instead of tap.
Am I doing the right things? Is there something else I can do? Am I doing the wrong things?

how far in to the cycle was your tank when you started doing all of this? if your doing water changes on a cycling tank it will prolong the process. the product "cycle" will help, i have used it, but you need to just let the tanks cycle run it's course. you should take the anemone and the star back because they both need 6 mo. or more established tanks thrive.

When cycling your tank you should not have any livestock in.
Whilst the tank is cycling you do not want the levels to be stable.
Do you understand what it means to cycle a tank (I mean that politely if it comes across wrong).
If your LFS knowingly sold you the anenomie and star to cycle your tank then they are arseholes, stay away from them in future!!!
