10 gallon lighting

I am going to convert my old 10 gallon freshwater into a saltwater and I am flat out broke. It is going to be a reef tank and i know that the stock flouresent wont be enough for the tank it self. The stock light only has one light fixture in it and i was wondering, could I just put one 03 acuatinic to support the entire tank. would the coral need regular lighting? or will that be ok? Im really not planning on puting any fish in there, i just want to grow clams and coral until they are large enough to survive in mmy 55 gallon tank.
so my main question is will my coral be all right in a 10 gallon tank with just aquaticic supporting it?:help: :help: :needhelp:

You are asking if they will be alright with normal output (NO) lights, right? The answer is no. For clams you need to look into metal halide (mh) lights. I think a 70 watt would be good enough on a 10 gallon. Too much wattage will cause you heat problems.
You might be able to get away with power compact lights though for clams, and just place them high in the tank. Coralife has a 96watt quadlight fixture for like $100.

i seen at ***** little mini bulbs made to plug into flourescent hoods that are 50% 10,000K and 50% actinic 3...at i think 15 watts each X's 2 bulbs would that be enough to support much??

DON'T GET THEM! they stink. i got two of those coralife one's... compared to flourescent, there's no comparison. indandescents are just not as bright but use up more electricity. i tried putting them in for my 10 gallon refugium... used them for two days and switched back to floursecents.. if you really want them, i got two, almost new.. let's make a deal.. :D

are you tryen to tell me that you didn't even notice a diffrence in appearance or that they didn't support anything over flourescent?

the intensity of the light is not as strong as flourescent.. they use more power.. they're hotter... just the intensity part alone made me switch back.. got a 50/50 bulb in there now. and they cost a lot too.. 10 bucks a piece..
