I got one right now and it is doing fine. The hardest thing is making enough room for your corals. Not a lot of space to put stuff.

i do not know how hard it is in relation to bigger tanks but I have a 10. Was my first saltwater tank ever and it is doing fine. I run a red sea prizm skimmer, moddified AC 50 as a fudge, and a Current USA Orbit 2x40 watt. I got by just fine without the skimmer as well, but the water quality seems to have improved and my algae problems are pretty much gone using it. I do weekly 10% water changes as well. I think you can do just fine with a 10 depending on the livestock you plan to keep.

No, no, no, use the same sand. It will be cured and full of life. Both pluses IMO.

You can use some of the old water if you want. There wont be any benifts really from using your old water aside from it being what your livestock was allready in, if you get what I'm trying to say. All your "good" bacteria and biological filtration will come from your old live rock and old sand and your old filter media( like chemipure or purigen) if you are running any.. Lots of people seem to make the mistake of thinking that they are "seeding" their tanks when they use the old water. Probably the best thing about using some of your old water is not having to make as much(or buy) new water.
