Now i believe ive found a good deal on ----. For $200, i can get an
-AGA 10 gallon tank with glass top,*
-20" 2x40 watt Current USA Satellite Powercompact with built in fans and moonlight(on legs)*
-Aquaclear mini powerfilter (irrelevant cuz it will be replaced)
-Tronic 50 Watt Heater*
-25 Gallons Worth of Salt Mix*
-Microjet 320 Powerhead*
-Marinelab Water Test Kit*
-Hydrometer
-Thermometer
-Cleaning Magnet
The ones with * next to them are the stuff that i really need, but the rest could still be useful. So, you think this is a good deal, would it be worth it to buy this starter kit? Is the lighting good, and if so, what can I keep with it?
If I get the tank, i plan on getting a skilter (a filter with a skimmer built in) Plus I have all the sand that I need right at home. Now, should I get this, or would i be satisfied with a Red Sea Decoart 1 gallon? Thanx a bunch guys. You see, i want this tank, but im in the market for a car soon, and need to know if im spending my money wisely...

Where in CT do you live. I'm from CT. I'd recommend going to Wet Pets in Vernon, CT for the tank...they are $11 there. Grab your salt there as well. Pick up the 20" Aqualife 96 watt light, skilter, heater, etc. on ---- or this site if its avaliable. Make the top yourself out of plexiglass.
Tank: $11
Top: $5 for materials
Better Light: $100 shipped
Heater: $15
Powerhead: $20
Salt: $10
TestKit: $20
Total: $181 with a better light. The other package is a good...but you could do just a little bit more effort.
Try to mix and match the heater, powerhead, testkit, and light on ---- to save on shipping.

I can get a 10 gallon starter kit that comes with a heater and filter and stuff with the tank for $40, and then i can get the light for like $50 on ---- (2 monthes old, great shape) and ive got sand. Just a quick question...if i had an old tank, and i had an ich outbreak, and i used copper, then i removed the copper and let the tank dry out and the dried out sand is on the bottom, would there still be enough copper in that sand to hurt my tank? K thanx. The money isnt the problem, its winning the battle with my parents ;)

From what I understand the copper gets into the sealant in the aquarium. So unless you strip it off completey and reglue the whole thing you may have a problem.

I just want to use the sand from the old tank, i dont care about the tank itself. That is going to be turned inot a sump for my 120 aggressive. Will the sand be allright?

Well you might take a sample of the sand put it in a container with some R/O stir it up really well and let it set for a few days.
Test the water for copper. I dont know if copper can stay in the sand or not.
