10 gallon sump

Hi. I don't know much about sumps or refugiums, but I was thinking about getting a reef sometime in the future, so why not start learning now? I have an extra tank, 10 gallon, that would fit under my show tank, 46-gallon. Would this refugium/sump be large enough for my tank? If so, if you have built/setup a sump or refugium, any tips would be awesome!

The 10 would be ok, but on the small side for a sump...container to hold extra water volume and some equipment...
But would not have enough room to be effective as a fuge in conjunction...
