10 gallon tank live rock to cycle tank question ?

hello everyone i have 10 pounds of live rock and live sand in my 10 gallon tank well i wanted to set up another 10 gallon tank tonight and i wanted to use live sand and i wanted to take 5 pounds of rock out of my other tank if i do this will this cycle my tank using live sand and 5 pounds of live rock ? also before i switch the rock do i need to brush off the rock from the old tank before putting the rock in the new tank ? thanks for your answers

That should work fine, but you can jump start the cycle by putting a piece of raw shrimp in there for a few days.
