10 gallon

Ok, so this is my first time here, so here goes
I have three weeks of experience, and although I'm getting the hang of it, I'm still hung. We've got two tanks - a 30 gallon with 2 perculas and a royal gramma, and I've just set up my old 10 gallon to do a small tank. I've got 8 pounds of very well cured LR in it.
I wanted to keep a little dwarf lion in it, and the local experts say it'll work, though it won't be very comfortable for the little guy. I want a little lionfish by my bed, but I don't want the little guy to be uncomfortable.
What is your opinion of a dwarf in a 10 gallon?
What other kinds of fish will do well in a 10 gallon?
Should I do a fishless cycle?

Welcome to the board farmerbob :)
I personally will always do a fishless cycle, but its up to you.
AS to the dwarf lionfish, I do not agree with your local experts, I believe they would be much happier in a 30 gallon tank, and thats minimum.

"Local experts" will often say anything to make a sale.....or sometimes they simply don't know what they are talking about. It may be that the little lion fish come into the store and they keep them in a little cramped ten gallon space until they are sold in a few weeks and they think that they could live like this for ever. In the long run the fish would be unhappy, and not thrive in a little ten gallon. Think of the fishes needs, not just your wants to have a lion fish at the bed side. Be a responsible owner and care enough about the life to give it a good home and not just an unhappy little prison cell. If you can't afford the 29 or 30 gallon for it, then save your money and you can have it in good time. Good luck, Lesley
