I re-started this tank in October of 2006. I first set it up as a reef tank in 2000, but lost interest in 2002 and kept it on simmer for many years. One fish lived through it all, a beat up Hippo Tang. Now I have a sump and some better equipment. I'm hoping it goes better this time.
Thanks for looking,
Tom

18x18x72. Not all of the face shows because of a mistake on measuring. I probably could've shown another 2", but I didn't want any of the black plastic to show.
Thanks, Nemo. My son named it. I just have to figure out how to slow the current in that area.

Tom, your tank really looks fantastic. Based on the looks of what your skimmer is collecting I wouldn't spend the money on a new skimmer because that looks like some disgusting skimmate!
My future plan is to upgrade to an in-wall and I am with you: I don't want the plastic edges to show and I want a little wiggle room for algae cleaning at the edges on the side and the sandbed so you don't see the 1/2" or so that is very difficult to get off.
:joy:
Keep up the good work!

Thanks Folks!
Not too hard to reach the bottom, but I still have tons of huge bristleworms I'm watching out for. For some reason they're grayish blue and about the size of a nightcrawler.
Bonebrake, I have to adjust this skimmer almost daily to get that color of gunk. There has to be something out there I can just set and forget. What are you using? Are you happy with it and what pump do you have with it? I was looking at the ASM G2, but it might be too big for my sump.
RussyP,Sorry about the quality, but it's all I have from 18years ago. I've since put in two new circuits.

I currently only have two nano tanks: a 20 gal. and a 10. gal. I am moving this summer and will be investigating the market for a new tank. I hope to be able to get an in-wall with a small fish room, but if not I will definitely be getting something larger than what I currently have!
A good friend of mine has a 180 gal. with an ASM G-2 with the Sedra 3500 he ordered from this site and he is very pleased with it. He said he hasn't had to adjust it since he set it up and I have seen the skimmate in person and it is some nasty stuff. I think it would be a good purchase if you are constantly adjusting yours and want something more automatic with less hassle.

cool!! just starting a tank with the same demensions. the more inspiration in this size the better. they really arent as short as the inwall set up makes it look.

Thanks Folks! Keeps me motivated even when I find a $25.00 fish dead in the overflow. I was too late on the gutter guard.
Stanlalee,
You're right about the height. It looks smaller in the window. Still wish it was taller. Maybe someday.
