100 gallon fowlr aggressive aquarium

Hey guys
Ive had my 100 gallon FOWLR aquarium running for about two weeks. I have two puffers and a harlequin tusk in there right now. Im getting ready to add a humu trigger and a foxface. Any advice that you have is greatly appreciated.
P.s. im brand new to saltwater , kept freshwater for over 12 years.

My main advice is SLOW DOWN! When you say that the tank has been running for 2 weeks, does that include cycling time, or did you add sand, rock and fish all at once two weeks ago? Puffers are very sloppy eaters, so the bioload from wasted food is considerable and, assuming that the tank was properly cycled, it will need some time to develop sufficient bacteria to handle such a load. The trigger is also a major mess-generator. Go slow, give the tank time to absorb each new addition. Remember, nothing good aver happens quickly in a salt water tank.

Agreed I know how tempting it is to stock stock stock but don't! A large fish a month is how I do it. Or 2-3 small fish

it s mostly how much time between adding fish. how long has your tank been up? the "older" a tank is the more easily it accepts the new fish and there bio mass

I agree with everyone about the adding of fish after only 2 weeks. 2 weeks?! If the tank is fully cycled then your fish will be easy targets for disease and infections such as ich. I would suggest starting off with damsels and crabs/snails (i know theyre boring), then move on after about a month or longer before going for the larger and more expensive fish. also, puffers need more than 100 gallons. theyll need, at the bare minimum, a 125. i dont mean to sound like a know-it-all but a 100 gallon tank wont last very long. people at the local fish place will say anything to make a sale. good luck on your journey!

Agreed. Iam looking to upgrade to a larger tank myself. Just to get the fish I want iam looking at 150 or more

What GeriDoc sez...slow down, and research your fishes before you get them. You didn't say what kind of puffers you have, but unless they're tobies, your tank is already at its limit...even for a 150. Predatory species are hard on the water quality...trust me, we only keep FOWLR setups ATM.
