1000w vs 400w

what is the differece between 400 and 1000?
is anyone out there run a 1000w yet?
how are the results compared with other wattage?
i'v run 150,175 and 250's - i like the 250 for growth rates
i'd like to go with a new tank 30in deep
48 x 30 X 30 custom built
my 100 is 18in deep not enough room rock still stacked up like a wall
i remember seeing a link to a tank posted on here that ran 2 1000w which looked incredible (guy in germany)

I had planned to use a 1000 watt bulb on my new 36x36x24 tank but I had to can that idea. I have heard good things about the Euro ballast from Sunlight supply running the 1000 watt Radium. Also, from what I have found this 1000 watt ballast uses less electricity then a dual 400 watt HQI ballast.

The lfs that I go to have all 1000w and 1500w on their coral display tanks. The sps tank has the 1500's and I would say they have them about 18" off the tank. The tank is a 120g long, 18" deep. The 1000w are about 24" to 30" off the 180gal tanks which house the lps mostly but do have softies adn polyps in them too. Pretty insane heat. Their main softy and polyp tanks are covered by VHOs.

They do have the mother colonies just chillian with tons of frags on the eggcrates . Lots of nice $10 frags too.
