100gal fish limit?

For a 100gal f/o w/live rock, would:
one sebea clown, tomato clown, flame angel, regal angel, yellow tang, and powder-blue tang be too many fish? This is not a near future upgrade, but I would like to be planning the budget etc. If it's not too many fish, could i fit a pennant butterfly in there as well? I don't want to overstock though b/c i want the tangs to have alot of room.

All books I've read they all say for a fish only tank you can have 5 inches of fish per 10 gallons of water.

Depending on on their initial size, I don't think it is going to be a problem; however a year or two down the road, size may become a problem...It will be close... one inch of fish per 4gallons of water is the going rate. Better water circulation and filtration = more fish. Herbivorous>.... sloppy carnivores<.

I think it sounds perfect, you could add a few more, but make them more smaller kind not more large fish. I think the inch per gallon rule is worthless. There are so many other factors, and it makes people overstock.

Thank you, Kris, but I think I'll keep it at that, and forget the butterfly as well. This is b/c I really care about whatever feelings fish might have, and to me its more fun to have a few really great fish that i really enjoy, than a bunch of fish that are uncomfterble, and will eventually get diseased. That is exactly right about all the other factors besides inches, so that's why i asked. I figured out the inches, but i wanted to see what other factors that i may have been forgeting about were going to cause potential problems. I have alot of experience w/ the fact that tangs love space!! IMO, fish do have feelings/emotions, but they are not quite the same ones as humans. I think some people try to humanize thier fish too much, while others think they are thoughtless pretty plants that can move. I tend to take a middle ground on this subject until they find out more proof one way or the other. In fact, this may be the field i want to study in collage, as i am only in high school at this point! I want to belive that they are like us very badly though!

From other's testimony and my LFS, I would not add a powder blue tang and a yellow tang together. The powder blue is way too aggressive vs. other tangs. Other than that, your fish limit seems fine as long as you add them slowly.

I agree with Hasq and PorkyPuffer....Atoz has some insane info!
Also, in a 100g tank with lr, you don't HAVE 100 gallons of water....you have less than that because of the rock that is taking up that space.

Fish stock s/b fine. Would not add any more. Would add the two tangs last and at the same time. Go slow. If after adding two tangs at same time they don't settle down in 1-2 weeks , you may have to remove the PB for 2-3 weeks and allow the yt to settle in. Then add back the PB. While it is not advisable to be moving fish back and forth, this method has worked for me. In addition you should be prepared because there will always be some territorial squabbling when there is more than 1 tang in a tank. Since feeding can be rough times, would recommend you feed in two different sections and also buy two lwttuce clips placed on opposite ends of the tank for their daily veggie meal( I recommend nori). Good luck.
