10g tank - Which Filter?

I bought a 10g setup from a guy in Nov and am just getting around to setting it up.
The filter he gave me was a Tetratec PF150, but the motor stopped working after only a few hours.
The Canopy he made for the setup only allows for a Filter that's width is 8-3/8" (gotta check the height). so, assuming that it fits in the canopy, is there a better filter for a 10g than the Tetratec PF150??? or should I just replace it with a new one?

IMO I would recommend and AquaClear Mini or 150 w/o the filter media. I feel they are very durable, economical and efficient. The Mini or 150 should fit in the space you mentioned and you might want to measure the 200 just in case.
Preferably a 300 would be nice and you can modify it with a Mini/150/200 impeller to reduce flow but recieve the greater water volume of the 300 (~.75g - just a really rough guess). But I'm positive it wont fit in space you have. If you can modify the conopy I would recommend this unit because:
The 300 would allow you to to convert it to a refugium for the tank w/ minimal extra cost (~$20-$30 beyond the filter price).

I have a mini aqua clear on my 10 gal. I am going to be putting on my 200 that is on my 25 and getting a 300 for my 25. I have not had any problems with my mini on my 10 gal. I just want to give the tank more flow without using a powerhead.
So if you are out buying go for the 150 or 200. Also you should be able to cut the area bigger on the canopy lid so it can fit your new filter.
I love the aqua clears as they are very sturdy filters and you can add different things to the basket like carbon, ammonia remover bags etc.
Good Luck :cheer:

I seen a guy turn an AC500 into an awesome fuge for his minibow7. It didnt take much either. If I was able to send Private Messages I would send you a link but I'm not.
