Does anyone know what kinda of soft corals can be kept in a 12 gallon aquapod with stock lighting. I'm leaning towards the 12 (in my price range)
I know of zoas.. and yellow polyps (I know they cause trouble
)
what about candy cane corals, xenia, and rics?
I'd like to know any/every possible coral options for the :
12 gallon aquapod with stock lighting

(Thats the main question) lol

But what exactly are soft corals? I was trying to find a complete list, but didn't find anything. The only thing I have heard about them are a few people hear and there saying what kind of softies they just bought...
Any lists that anyone knows of?
or a list that you have made up yourself?

Anybody that has corals should have this book: Corals a quick reference guide by Julian Sprung. I've been using this book for two years. It tells lighting requirements, food required, & placement. Shows about all the corals, at least enough for me. Great investment along with this site.

I think to put it simply the main difference in soft and hard corals is their skeletal structure. Soft corals and LPS hard corals have an organism that is soft to the touch. The LPS hard corals have a hard rock type outside skeleton but the organism is soft that resides with in it. Soft corals have no skelton and are soft all over. SPS hard corals or stony corals are completly hard like rock and require strong t-5 or MH lighting to survive in tanks. When sitting under the proper lighting they will send out their polyups making some hard corals look soft but its actually not.
