Here is something that may irritate the rest of you as it did me. As some of you may know I am building a diy nano and decided to use my old lights from my aquapod. When I open up the hood and took it apart I noticed the system is set up for 2 fans. For some reason they just never installed the second fan. Here are the pictures
The guts (reflector removed.)

#1 fan and housing

If you look closely at the converters cerciut you can see another plug in for a second fan.

Here is where the second fan should go

Now I dont know if this would solve all teh heat issues, but it should help. I think if you just go buy another fan it would be nothing to install it.

yup. It even says out on both plugs... I dont know why they would go through all the effort and not just install it..

I dont think you can add more light, but the fan is a 2.5" computer fan and I will find out tomorrow if I can add another.

been there done that -- yea go ahead and drop another fan in, it helps with the temp... my water stays at 78 degrees, hood fully sealed and closed all the time..
fans are a bit loud but i dont care so long as it keeps the water chill.
one thing though.. just make sure you maintain the same amperage as the stock fan - i dont remember off the top of my head what it is but if you look at the stock fan it will say how many amps.. find another fan with the same amount.

agreed, really what could a fan cost them? Im sure they buy in bulk and most people woundt notice the 5.00 it would cost them to upgrade.

I have the same aquapod that you have i just bought it used from the lfs, for $150.00,
with everything, even water, didn't have to buy a thing...plug & play, also the stand.
couldn't pass it by.

on the fans, i'm wondering if it was made that way to circulate the air through the canopy. through 1 side and out the other ?..
just a thought . i'm going to investigate this question as well.

If that was the case, you could just position the fans so one is pulling and the other is blowing. It does not matter in my case, I gutted the aquapod canopy and retrofitted it into my diy nano that I built. I then put 2 fans in it.

I went up to the lfs where i bought mine and they come that way new. what you did was what they said to do as well. they also said you can open the vent slots to pull in more air.
