Day 1 of build:
Haven't posted much, but finally starting a build thread. Had a 125 sitting around in the basement for awhile and finally got the go ahead to go to a larger tank......Working with Acrylic51 on the project.....Yeah I know he should be over working on his setup, but it'll get done shortly......The build thread might be slow at times due to money and time, since I drive for UPS as well......
Here are a couple shots of the floor being reinforced from the basement.......

You can see the 125 off to the side......You can see the 125 is drilled on the end of the tank, so there will be a lot of DIY projects for all you folks to follow.....Planned for the tank is building a custom overflow on that end of the tank and there will be modifications to the design.....The overflow will incorporate the overflow of course, but will also incorporate a DIY wavebox powered by Tunze of course!!!!!!
The stand and canopy will be custom built and still working out details as far as the stand, but it will be top notch, because Acrylic is going to push me to new levels.....The sump will be located in the basement roughly in the area where the tank sits in the picture. This will allow me to easily do water changes and minimize any mess or clutter under the DT. Also keeping the wife happy......Haven't totally decided on a return pump, but leaning towards Reeflo....Skimmer will be Reef Octopus of course....even though Shawn is trying to get me to bite on Vertex....Lighting will be LEDs, still doing some research, but leaning towards the ReefBreeders or Evergrow systems.....Looks very promising......
More pics to follow......Going to get back to work and start the framing of the stand.......

The stand will be designed something after the lines of this design.....It won't be exact but gives you an idea of what I'm after somewhat.....Would really like some input and ideas from you guys........

I love the look of the stand you want to model yours after. Very neat and clean.
Looks like you are coming along well with the build. You are in very good hands with Acrylic!! He is about as pro as they come. Can't wait to see this thing all done. Tagging along.
ps. What is your time frame for getting it all done and cycling?? I have to ask because I have been on this site for almost 3 years and I still have not seen a display tank from Acrylic up and running... LOL. Sorry Shawn, I had to get a shot in. Probably cause I'm jealous of your high standards.

No offense!!!!! Actually I was over there yesterday and we got a little work done. Got the plywood top in place as well as the plywood bottom done on tje stand as well. After we laid the plywood top I appliedan FRP panel I had leftover to the top. I do know he's going to apply a layer of foam to the top before the tank goes into place.
There was a deadline actually set for the build. Dallas told me we had 8 weeks to finish..... completed time frame is first week of July. We are both actually off that week so hammer down.
As far as cycling it will be a transfer from his 65 that's up and running currently. The fish are currently in QT due to ich but should be ready to go by the deadline. His wife did throw a curveball into the mix. He had to paint the. Dining room and install hardwood flooring as well.
As for me Ryan I've been dealing with rather pressings personal issues where my mind isn't on my tank but hopefully shortly I can refocus.
