Welcome to the boards,
Your filtration kind of depends on how much you stock the tank. You for sure need LR (live rock) and for that sized tank you want AT LEAST 100-125lbs. Some people like crammed wall to wall work and others less. If you decide to go with a sump set up they are benneficial. In a sump you can hide your heaters and other things which would go in the tank. In your sump you also have a protein skimmer. The protein skimmer will get out organic wastes. A canister filter takes out solid waste and will just trap it so you can take it out when you clean the filter. Another debated topic is UV sterilizers. They pretty much use radioactive light to zap and kill whatever goes through it. They help prevent disease outbreaks but they have been questioned on whether they kill benneficial bacteria too. For my 95gal FOWLR tank I run a UV and a canister filter. I am also looking for getting a sump system. Later on in the hobby you'll want to upgrade to a sump later like me and it's much easier to do now. For a tank of the size your doing I would advise plumbing the tank (having it drilled and getting a preinstalled overflow box) wrather than going with HOB "hang on back" filters and such.
Good Luck
Jimmy
