125 reef tank

I have a 125 gal tank. Not much in it yet, but a couple hundred pounds of live rock 10 or so heads of frogspawn, 8 green chromis, 1- 6 line wrasse and a couple dozen stalks of pumping xenias. As I move to a full reef tank, should I be adding anything additives to the tank? I currently use “real ocean water” supplied from my LFS in California. Nitrites and Nitrates are at 0 and red chlo. algae is beginning to spread. Since start up, I have lost one green chromis

As your reef grows your going to need to watch your ca, dkh, ph more and im pretty sure you know that so be prepared to spend some cash. Red algea sounds like cyanobacteria. Do a search here and you should find many threads on how to treat it. The hobby cost alot and is lots of work but in the end the results of a well maintained tank is worth it.

Well said^,i am not familiar with the real seawater param's but you want to get a good test kit for your calcium/dkh/and ph without a doubt. I like salifert kits they are pretty accurate.Good luck.

I've used Real sea water before,...honestly i'd suggest NOT using ...not because its bad...because actully its perfect....but it does have stuff in it ...which is harder to control...such as alages ...etc....i would start using oceanic salt...and RO water...will help balance things out.....also how old is your tank?...it willy cycle for around a month and a half so you have to just watch your levels during that time and not add anything...other then some fish food...then after that month and a half...add one hardy fish..and monitor it for another 3 weeks...after that you should be fine to start adding your corals....
best of luck

i have a 100 gallon reef tank with 150lbs LR and lots of soft, lps and some sps corals now also a 5" crocea clam and all i add is 30ml of B-Ionic parts A & B every day.... that keeps my Ca right at 420.....
i dont add anything else other than that.... i am going to try and get a calcium reactor soon though cuz dosing that much is kinda troublesome after awhile
