O-ya, any suggestions are welcome. One thing I would like to do after the MH break in period, is lower the VHOs to get them closer to the water. At that point they will both be actinic.

You might want to figure out a way to block the light from coming out of the front of the canopy. My first canopy had light that came out and it really started to bug me.
It looks like your MH light is hanging down a little. Is it or is it just the pic?

Hey thanks Slick, I was starting to feel unloved :D .
The MH is hanging at an angle? The mogul bases can only be fastened down in the back and the front-bottom of the base has two screws that make it tilt. I haven't quite figured out how to straighten them up yet.
I can see how the light coming from the canopy could get annoying. I've been thinking about moving the hinge to the outside but then it would be in plain view .

Aside from the light leak, there isn't much to say...looks like a nice setup. How old is it? You seem to already know that you can potentially lose massive amounts of light without reflectors. But the color above the MHs seems to be pretty light, so it will reflect some. Do you have fans in the canopy?

Thanks sammy, never herd that about the charcoal but it sounds like a good idea.
The tank is going on two weeks old... The sand and rock were taken from 2- 55g tanks that were around two years old. I'm still worried about what kind of cycle I'm going to get with the load I have in there. So far all has stayed ok.
I have two fans placed under the canopy right now. The back is open. I plan to cut them into the canopy and close the back if I can make it look good (and that's a big IF, I'm not very talented with wood). If not I'm going to have to invest in a new one.

that canopy is ok reef I would take a piece of rubber like ruber roof and tack it to the inside seam were it hinges so the light wont come out of the front. then as far as inside take the vho off get a spider reflector remount mogal with reflectors then screw some wood to the side of the canopy on the inside to how low you want to drop your vho then mount them and it would be a nice setup. BTW congrats on your new tank it is going to be nice I am sure:D
