i just set this tank up today. I took out the bioballs and replaced it with LR rubble. So i was supposed to fill it with water till they are completely submerged right? I am going to go buy some filter floss tomorrow and not use the stock carbon filter. Am i supposed to just cut out a strip that fits that drip tray over the LR rubble in the 2nd chamber? Also. i have a question about putting some carbon in the area of the sponge in the 3rd chamber. How do i do this. What kind of carbon do i use. I have never used carbon on my other tank. What brand do i buy and does it already come in a pouch or something. any help will be appreciated. thanks.

Activated carbon is basically all the same across the brands in the fish aisle. I prefer the pelleted kind as it is less messy, and while you can buy some that comes in a media bag it is generally cheaper to buy a larger container and a seperate bag.

For the filter floss, yes put in on the drip tray so the water passing from the first to second chamber has to go through the floss.
As for the carbon, I run a bag of carbon once a month for a week. i put it on top of the LR rubble in the second chamber under the drip tray so that all (or most) of the water has to pass through the carbon.
Good luck,
Chris

Also, am i supposed to fill the tank up so that the LR rubble is completely submerged unlike having it trickle down with the bioballs? So, I should fill the tank past the "max" point of the 3rd chamber?
