Hi guys,
Ive just recently gotten my new cube up and going... after a long break from having larger reef and fish only tanks.
The tank has established itself and all inhabitants are doing well.
-2 clowns, 6 line, cleaner shrimp, blood shrimp, and a handfull of hermits and snails.
- small frogspan, finger leather, some sand polyps, zoos, and mushrooms.
Ive been really happy going the nano reef approach, especially in the Bio Cube... everything is clean, contained and simple.
After some reading though, im picking up on a lot of suggestions and comments about mod's that can or should be made... im looking for some honest opinions.
- I have NOT removed the Bio-balls
- I have NOT removed the foam cube
- I HAVE added Oceanic's micro skimmer... seems to work well so far.
- I have not added a heater as the water seems to hover around 76 - 78
Ive read a fair bit about turning the centre compartment into a refugium...adding lights, more power heads, venting the hood, or even about some who are adding a sump to the unit...
Just looking for the suggestions that people have found to be definite successes. I dont want to go the route of making the tank any more "complex" at this time, as im enjoying the simplicity.
As a goal... id like to get the cube as filled up as possible with softies. Leathers, mushrooms (ricordia), zoos, and a few LPS.
I have heard of people having success in propagating some low light stonies in cubes... but id want to hear of other success stories... the last thing I want to see is anything not surviving.
Anyways... please let me know your thoughts.
What are some essential changes... and what are some others to consider down the road?
Cheers & thanks in advance,
AJ
