Described as "Rare and Exotic Red and Green Acanthastrea maxima 3" I have to admitt it's very cool, but the price of $1400 is insane, crazy part is that someone purchased it.....Kinda makes my other Acans look like they came from Walmart...LOL

thats what i think. it just looks like a common red and green trachyphyllia to me, nothing too fancy. $1400? id rather set up another tank for that much.

one of those things. If you put a super HIGH price on something some one is going to think it is soooooo exotic and spectacular, even if its just rare or uncommon. and only worth a quarter (or less) of whats being asked. blinded by the price. some fool is going to be bragging "I paid 1400 dollars for that one, buffy. have you seen my new austin martin? lets go play tennis at the private club" I cant believe it I just invented a new stereotype..... the coral snob. (kind of like a wine snob only less tolerable) LOL

and while him and buffy go play tennis and drink mimosa's,

I don't mind paying good money for a good quality coral, but it has to be a fair price. Funny thing is that this was just another coral that arrived in a bulk order of Walt Smith corals, the company didn't order it, it just arrived with the others.
One of those, tranships of 40 corals to a box, what you get is what you get and sometimes you luck out, but they pay the same price for that coral as they did for a 5" run of the mill color acro.

Well I guess if you have that kind of money but not my cup of tea, I could stock all my tanks for that much. I think the most I've ever spent on coral was $60.

Hey, I like people like this
Part of my side business is setting up custom tanks for stupidly wealthy people, most call wanting a full blown reef tank, but once they find out they actually have to do some work they end up spending 2-3k on fake corals and a few nice fish. They want it to look nice and impresss the hell out their friends, but don't even consider asking them to put a hand in the water, lord forbid they might melt.

For that much I can buy a lot more beautiful corals to fill my tank and some nice accessories. Not worth the money unless you got plenty of money to throw around.
