Go out to radio shack and buy some fans. Easy wiring and works like a charm. One blows down the other blows up. Keeps my tank at a perfect temp.

IMO, A steady 82 is fine for a reef. In the summer, I turn all my heaters up a little to maintain 2-3 degrees higher than winter.

Do you have your feeding hatch and your filter hatch open while the fan is blowing over the top of the water? I have a 29g biocube and just opening both of those helps my temp. But when it gets real hot outside, I'll put some ice in one of those lunchmeat storage containers, they fit perfectly through the feeding hatch. It hangs there just allowing the bottom of the container to touch the water. It brings the temp back down slowly. Works for me!
