Depends, If its a reef you'll need good lights, if not you'll still need rock and such.
hmmm, . Doing it right, (that includes RO/DI) I'd say about $3000 on the low end, $3000 to $4000 for a reef. You can search for deals and find many. You'll most likely pay more at your local fish shop so do lots of research.

You really do need that stuff to run a tank properly since they are all related (the LR and LS work as a natural filtration).
My 55 was about $1500, this includes lights, sump, skimmer.
100 would be a bit more, it all depends on deals you can find and what you want to do. Someone is always selling an old freshwater setup in the paper cheap that you can convert to SW. Like stand and tank, usually fairly cheap.

My 150 DAS was about 1500, that was with basic NO lighting, then I had to buy sump/fuge, pump, PH's, t5's 2 heaters refractor and skimmer. So probably 3000. Then it was an RO unit, salt, rocks (I used LR and base) Sand, (both LS and southdown play sand) so now we are up to 4000 min. Very expensive hobby :scared: but worth it. If you go with a used system, make sure it never had copper put in it in case you decide to go with a reef eventually.

definently keep an eye out for great deals in the newspaper.... i got a 125 gallon with stand, basic low end lights, 3 power heads, wet/dry, 70 lbs of live rock, 3 inch bed of cc, (which i plan on switching out soon) Heater, and god knows what else ive forgot for 300 bucks. I honestly thought it was a typo, but called, showed up that day, gave her the money, picked it up 2 days later. I lucked out.... already put 600+ with skimmer, livestock, salt, little stuff like that.

Be careful when buying used tanks.
Some tanks get treated with copper and the silicone suck it up and leach it over time.
