150w MH light on new tank

I'm setting up a new mixed reef in a 110x high tank. My lighting is a 48" dual 150w MH with 4 65w pc's. The light is running a 72 bowfront now but I'm concerned that he 29" tall 110 is going to make the light too weak. It's actually too much for the 72 and most of my polyps and mushrooms don't like to me too close. It's keeping my coraline from growing in direct light. I was planning on keeping the mh bulbs (14k I think) and getting new 65w pc's (atinics). So does anyone think I'm going to be disappointed with this light. I see alot of folks using dual 250's which prompted this post.

I have the same tank. I was told to go with the 250's to be 'coral safe', allowing me to keep pretty much anything I wanted to from top to bottom. I picked up a 48" Coralife Aqualight Elite (2 x 250w MH & 2 x 96w CF) for a little over $500 about a year ago when they were running specials. From all the info/feedback I received I would go with the 250's, better to spend a little more $$ now than a lot more later if you want to keep different corals.

10" or less under the surface is 10" or less under the surface (where my sps start in my 16" deep tank with 150w halides except caps which still grow fast and do well on the very bottom). the only real problem is aquascaping for a 29" tall tank is going to be alot more expensive than stacking rocks on a 20" tank so wether they are fine for use or not depends on how much rock you can purchase and stack. Beyond sps that lighting will be fine for most other corals.

In regard to rock placement I'm planning on using egg crate on the bottom(under the sand) and acrylic pins. Since I'm going to use dry basr rock I'll be able to set it up the way I like first then I'll just add my LR to the top of the dry rock. Since I already have the light I can't see spending the money. I'm keeping all easy corals now and figured placement is going to be key. Since the tank is so tall I was planning on using glue or epoxy to attach the corals in the tank. But how are they detached if they need to be moved?
