150W Viper MH Overkill for Frag Tank?

Hello,
I currently have a 24(w) x 10(h) x 24(d) frag tank with 2 T5 10,000k bulbs and 2 actinic (It's a coralife dual light fixture). Anyway, I was wanting to start adding sps frags to the tank and was curious if a 150w Viper MH (clip on w/ LED moonlights) would be overkill for the tank? Thank you in advance for any advice!!

I have a 150watt over my 14G for frags and it's fine. You just have to be very careful to monitor the temperature, these can get hot very quickly. I keep my 150watt on for 6 hours a day and that seems to be just the right amount for the corals and for the temperature to remain constant.

Thanks so much for the input! My tank is 25(ish) gallons and I am looking at the clip on halide so I can still have a section for lower light frags. Do you have sps frags? If so what kind of dosing do you do? Sorry a little off topic, but I like to cover all the bases!

I do have SPS frags. I used to dose two part B-Ionic (Calcium and Alkalinity), but I've since switched salts and have found that I do not need to dose as long as I have weekly water changes with this salt (SeaChem AquaVitro Salinity). It's an expensive salt, but it's worth it.
Frags, lets see:
ORA Red Planet
ORA Hawkins Blue
ORA Frogskin
ORA Blue Enchinata
ORA Green Birdsnest
Orange tip birdsnest
Blue milliopora
quite a few no namers - various porites
ORA Aussie Delicate
ORA Miami Orchid
ORA Purple Plasma
ORA Tri color Valida
i have found that ORA SPS does the best and frags from other peoples corals. The pieces that are fully encrusted to their plugs do great. Also, when adding SPS, drip acclimate just like you would a fish and you'll get better results.
