Hi, i recently set up an 18gal reef system.
I had some questions about my stock list, i was hoping on keeping the following, any input is greatly appreciated
2 gold stripe maroon clowns (mated)
1 neon dottyback or orangeback basslet (i like the orangeback the best but i get mixed answers on their tank size requirements. does anyone have experience with these fish? do they like to swim alot? is my tank large enough?)
and possibly 1 watchman goby

just so you know, marroons grow fairly large over a relatively short period of time. they also get more aggressive over time. If you're gonna do clowns in an 18, maybe consider a mated pair of percs or ocelaris..... no gold stripe, but they won't be crowding out the dottybck and goby.
I don't know anything about the size/habits of the orangeback basslet, but if it's too much, have you thought of the chalk basslet? they're very pretty -- the pic on SWF doesn't really do them justice

Id go with a smaller species of clowns, Maroons will get to big for an 18g imo.

thanks guys, maybe i will reconsider the maroons.
i have seen chalk basslets before at my LFS, they are very beautiful fish, but i would really like more info on the orangeback basslet. does anyone have one or know if they are compatable with my tank plans?

Yeah...you would not think it because they are so cute when they are small, but maroon clowns get pretty mean as they get older. I have one that is 3 years old and he can be a real

sometimes.
