OK talked to Home Depot again, They assure me that the sand is on its way. They have not received the Purchase order from the home office yet, but they did call their buyer at the home office once again and he said it is ordered! All 18 pallets! I am supposed to check back again on this Friday.

Sweet...thanks for the update...I was going to have my dad pick some up last weekend as he was on his way through your area...he picked me up 300 pounds of brown playsand obviously not not the southdown I was telling him about...I didn't have the heart to tell him he hauled 300 pounds of the wrong sand back from St. Louis.

Yes, i am new best friends with all the store managers and department managers at my local Home Depot store. Heck I even talked to their buyer. Our 18 pallets of tropical play sand are sitting on the east coast. The home office has not generated a purchase order for it yet, as it is a not a top priority load. So when they have an available truck sitting there doing nothing, they will ship it all the way to minnesota. Anyhow that is the story. I have been assured by everyone up to the home office that it is ordered, and they only need to ship it! So next I have heard that the home depot in La Crosse can order it and get it here right away, so I may head over there! Or I may call the home office again!

You know... I live in Woodbury, which is 7 miles from Saint Paul and 11 miles from Minneapolis where Home Depot does their distribution. I can't get them to order South Down at the stores around here no matter how hard I try. We have a sand and gravel company locally in Saint Paul that sells play sand, and thats what Home Depot sells. I tried to get them to order it and they said it would be so expensive it would cost me $50 a bag... so I might as well just buy live sand.
... I wish someone at Home Depot had their head on straight.

Well today I talked to Bruce the store manager. He said he would find out where our sand was and give me a call back in 24 hours. Also our Home Depot is not in the same distribution loop as the Twin cities. go figure! Anyhow, the Sku is active at my home depot. The southdown was part of their opening inventory but not part of their regular stock. So until the home office deactivated their sku and since they are less than 1 year old, they can still get it believe me guys, I am getting a pallet and then going into live sand production and GARF procedure live rocks! LOL! Well I am going to get some for my future dream 1 million gallon reef tank! So i should be able to let you know what is up tomorrow night. Also where in woodbury do you go? I hope you do not go to the famous one with a website in minneapolis! Their prices are so high, it would be cheaper for you to drive down here to Rochester!

The good news: they are supposed to be here this coming thursday Nov. 8th.

Ok guys all the reef clubs here in MN know about this shipment, adding it all up, looks like we have 6 pallets gone as soon as it comes in!

OK guys, I will post here when i have verified the shipment is here, and for you guys that may not be able to make it, well I can pick up some extra. I am the Co-Manager of the new Wendy's on 55th street, so you could pick it up there when your in Rochester! You just cannot come during lunch or dinner! But we can hammer all of that out once the sand is in! I know one of the guys from the Twin Cities club is going to pick up a whole pickup full.

OK guys, tomorrow is the big day! the shipment of southdown is supposed to be in at 5pm. Tomorrow morning I have a meeting at 8am, so I will call and make sure they have the purchase order on the computer for it to arrive. Once the store has the purchase order it is as good as here. I will be home briefly after my meeting so I will post then to let you all know what the status is. Hopefully this time it is the real deal!
