As far as growing any corals you have to make sure it has a supplemental output to it. Just the standard CF bulb for a house won't really help a coral out.

You can buy threaded PC bulbs at a lot of stores... cheap little guys...
the wattage isnt usually that high... but because its only a little tank, you dont need a tonne of wattage... there isnt a big water column to cut through.

Its not the fact that it doesn't need to cut through alot of water its the fact the corals need certain spectrums of light to survive. Thats why you use specific fixtures and bulbs. As for a standard light fixture I am not even sure if you can find a bulb that would provide them with the right lighting

If you really want to use that lamp try and find a "spiral 50/50 compact fluorescent bulb" That will give you the actinic and daylight balance but I don't think you will be able to keep much of anything under this lighting. I just shut down my 5.5gal and I had an actual CF fixture over it with 36w and I could tell that the corals were struggling to survive.
Hope that helps!
