2.5 gallon Freshwater Ideas?

Hey guys,

I have a little 2.5 AGA with a 50W heater and HOB filter rated for 10 gals, also have some FW substrate and fake plants. It's just sitting there and I love a project but don't want to make it a SW nano. Does anybody w/ FW experience have any ideas? I was thinking a dwarf gourami, betta or 2-3 neon tetras.

Anyway, I know this is a saltwater forum but I'm hoping some of y'all have freshwater experience and can help me

although 2.5 g is small I would recommend you do a "beaslbob build" LOL
basically you add substrate, plant life plants, fill the tank and let it set a week.
then add a singe fish (if live bearer a male) and wait another week with no food added.
then add some more fish (if live bearer a female) and start feeding 1 flake per day.
no water changes, no filter, not even an air stone.
But that's just my suggestion
and it's worth at most .02

Does anybody have any ideas w/o live plants? I've got an inch of gravel, filter, heater, a little cave and some plastic plants. Is there a type of fish besides a betta anyone would recommend putting in there?

Thanks for your idea, beaslbob, I kind of set it up already though so that wouldn't work, and I'm not really a live plants person

I'll probably add a few small fish and do weekly water changes to keep levels steady. Again, any suggestions on specific fish would be appreciated
