2 dead crabs with all crabs accounted for...

okay now this is some weird stuff...
a few weeks ago i noticed a dead crab, laying on the bottom of the tank...normal right...well considering i only have 4 crabs and all of them are alive and accounted for no!
I tried to fish it out but it was inside my LR so i let it be...today i noticed another dead crab on the other side of the tank...after a quick inventory again all 4 were accounted for...weird...borderline creepy. And im almost possitive its not the same one from before.
what might this be...they seem to be fairly big, just a bit smaller than my mexican red legs and much bigger than my blue legs...i thougth maybe they might have been babys that couldnt find shells but theres no shortage of shells in there. And they dont look beaten up??????
any ideas what these could be, where they came from and how i can keep them alive?

They probably are not dead crabs, but your crabs have shed or molted. They will leave an exact replica of themselves that is empty and slightly smaller.

If they are the same types of crabs that you have then they are probably molts. That is how a crab grows. It sheds it body which will look like a dead crab at times. Either that or you had hitchhikers on you live rock.
