I have a tank with 1 Niger trigger in it and have always wanted to get a "playmate" that he wouldn't try to kill. A friend of mine recently got a Niger and don't like it so he offered it to me but I wanted to find out if Niger's typically get along together or if they are a "1 one in a tank" sort of fish?
Thnaks in advance,

Cool, thanks much - I have felt a kindda bad since he had to leave the DT that I wanted to go coral friendly in - since then he hasn't had any "tank mates".
Thanks again, I'll let my pal know that I'll take him.

I wouldn't do that just yet. Wait for some others to chime in here.

If they get to big for the 60 gallon it could result to one being killed by the other. Do you have plans to upgrade?

Its a pretty common thing to be able to keep multiple junvinal triggers of the same speices in the same tank . But as they mature they will With out a doubt start to become more aggressive . Its just nature . Survival of the fitest kinda thing . I would honestly skip a second one in a home tank .

There are so many small juvinile Niger Triggers available, sometimes its easy to forget they grow to 20 inchs. Mine is 2 inch long now and chased once in a while by everyone in the tank including a Coral Beauty Angel, they may regret when he gets older....They have the reputation for being good community fish as juvi's, but they can become very aggressive as adults. An upgrade will definately be needed from a 60.

IDK about keeping two Nigers in a 60 since they grow at a pretty fast rate. I would try a humu as they grow at a considerably slower rate.

Thanks for the input - I forgot to check mark this for a subscription - The update is that by the time I contacted him back he had sold it, so I guess all is well that ends well.......
I do appreciate the feedback though - I love this forum and all the folks here that are so willing to help (and help without making me feel like to much of a noob

Me too; I've been in the SW hobby for over 30 years and learn new stuff on this forum all the time. I know the forum is part of a good business plan; but our sponsor deserves a big "thanks". (yeah, I know; "Say thanks by placing an order!")
